About “Ray Charles” McGlasker

Charles McGlasker began listening to Ray Charles’ country and western music in 1956.

Charles said “I loved it so much that I thought he made it for me. I learned every song on that particular album.” After that, Charles started competing in talent shows and singing at different places.

McGlasker feels the music of Ray Charles is music that he can “understand and feel.”

Of his craft as a Ray Charles impersonator, he states: “The act. The Feeling, sound, dress, walk… I own it.”

Charles McGlasker was born and raised in Mobile Alabama. Except for several years living in Atmore as a student at Escambia County Training School he attended Heart of Mary School and Williamson High School in Mobile.

After graduating from Williamson, McGlasker continued his education at the Alabama State University where he earned his Masters Degree in Art.

After college, he became an Art Teacher with the Mobile County Public School System and taught at B.C. Rain High School.

After leaving the school system, he started offering sign painting services to businesses wishing to increase their public exposure. Charles still dabbles in other types of artwork, but performing warms his heart the most.

In the evenings, weekends, holidays and for special events, Charles McGlasker steps into his Ray Charles attire, slips on his sunglasses, is escorted to the microphone by beautiful women and puts on a great Ray Charles impersonation show!

Charles has always kept his fingers in the music scene by playing his keyboard and singing alone or with various local groups in the Mobile Bay Area and along the Gulf Coast. His most current gigs have been with the Bay City Brass Band at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear.

“Ray Charles” McGlasker is a down-to-earth person who enjoys people enjoying themselves while listening to his music. You should see his eyes light up when he sees his audience having a good time.
